Shreveport, LA – The Institute for Nonprofit Administration & Research (INAR) at LSUS, in partnership with the Louisiana Alliance for Nonprofits (LAN), conducted a statewide survey to better understand the greatest needs of the Louisiana nonprofit sector. At the “State of Nonprofits in Louisiana” event on June 10, research will be presented that identifies and summarizes economic data for the nonprofit sector in Louisiana. Along with the survey of the state as a whole, nine metropolitan areas, including Shreveport, were specifically analyzed. The event takes place at Louisiana State University at the Shreveport University Center Theater from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is free to the public. Breakfast will be offered by the LSUS Foundation.

“Little has been done to survey nonprofits across Louisiana in recent years,” said Dr. Heather Carpenter, director of the MS in Nonprofit Administration and acting executive director of INAR. “This event will report on how the nonprofit sector is a vital part of the state’s economy, how nonprofits have worked on the front lines of COVID, how they contribute about $23 billion in annual revenue and employ 7% of the state’s workforce. ”

The event will be scheduled as follows:

8:30 a.m. – Registration and breakfast

9:00 a.m. – Welcome and introductions

9:15 a.m. – Search results

10:00 a.m. – Panel response

10:45 a.m. – Questions and answers from the public

11:30 am – End of the event

The expert panel will be moderated by Jill Roshto, Executive Director, Louisiana Alliance for Nonprofits (LAN) and panelists will include:

Paige Carlisle, Chief Financial Officer, Community Foundation of North Louisiana
Mario Chavez, Commissioner Caddo District 10, Shreveport
