Suzan Schoelen Riggs | Kingfisher Times and Free Press

Suzan Kaye Schoelen was born on December 31, 1946, in Kingfisher, the oldest of six children born to Edward J. Schoelen and Edna (Soudek) Schoelen.

She died on August 26, 2022 in Euless, Texas.

Suzan graduated in 1964 from Kingfisher High School.

After graduating, she went to cosmetology school and later opened Suz’Anns salon.

She worked very hard to have a successful business while forming many lasting friendships.

In 1991, Suzan married Chas Riggs in Oklahoma City.

Chas took a job in Texas in 1994 and Suzan continued her career as a hairstylist.

Moving to Texas, she would be close to her son Patrick and his wife Shana and their children Kendal and Konlan.

She was able to go home and see her family in Oklahoma as much as possible. She was very proud of her sons and grandchildren.

Suzan was a lifelong practitioner. She attended Celebration of Life and the Dallas Center for Spiritual Living.

Over the past few years, Suzan has faced multiple health issues related to kidney and heart issues, but she has maintained her signature positive attitude through it all.

Suzan was predeceased by her parents; her husband; brothers Dennis Schoelen and Neil Schoelen; brother-in-law James Lombardo; and nephews Brian Schoelen and Brad Schoelen.

She is survived by her sons Patrick McKinley (Shana) and John McKinley, all of Texas; brothers Norman Schoelen and Terry Schoelen (Marcy); sister Penny Lombardo; sisters-in-law Eddie Schoelen (Dennis), Susie Schoelen (Neil); grandchildren Kendal and Konlan McKinley; and several nieces and nephews.

A Service of Life celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 at the Center for Spiritual Living, 4801 Spring Valley Road, Suite 115, Dallas, Texas.
