Police arrest suspect in Portland shooting that leaves one dead

The Louisville Metro Police Department arrested the man suspected of shooting and killing one person and injuring another in Portland last week. Police arrested LaTodd Allen, 44, on Monday and he faces multiple charges. Allen is currently charged with murder, first degree assault, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. The shooting happened around 10 p.m. last Friday at a gas station in the 500 block of North 22nd Street, police said. When police arrived they found Lavonne Cooper, 40, with multiple gunshot wounds. Cooper was taken to UofL Hospital where she died. Shortly after, another victim with gunshot wounds to the arm was admitted to the Jewish hospital. Police have now confirmed that this person was from the scene of the shooting. Allen will be arraigned Tuesday morning.
