OK Children’s Hospital OR A health specialist will offer sports physical exams

A pediatric sports medicine specialist from Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health will offer sports physical exams for children on two upcoming dates at Kids First pediatric emergency care centers.

Sports programs in schools in the metro area generally require annual physical examinations before students are allowed to participate in any form of organized sports activity. To help support young athletes across the community, sports physical exams will be offered for $ 35.

Dr Ashley McAllister will provide the medical examinations at the following dates and locations:

• July 8: 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital – Kids First Pediatric Urgent Care – Edmond, 2820 N Kelly Ave., Suite 100.

• August 3: 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital – Pediatric Emergency Care for Children – May Avenue, 12516 N May Ave.

The exam will last approximately 30 minutes and will include a review of the athlete’s medical history, including any previous injuries, a discussion of topics related to the sport chosen by each athlete, and a physical exam with vital signs. A sports physical form will be completed and signed by the care provider, which the pupil can return to school. Students can bring forms provided by their schools to their appointments, but the clinic will also have forms available.

McAllister also offers sports physical exams at the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital Sooner Pediatrics in downtown Oklahoma City. Athletes do not need to be established Oklahoma Children’s Hospital or OU Health patients to schedule sports physical exams, and a referral is not required.
