Christine Pedi will launch the Green Room 42 residency, A PEDI PARTY, on January 20
Popular actress, impressionist, singer and versatile artist Christine Pedi will begin a monthly residency at Hip-and-Happening Midtown Manhattan nightclub The Green Room 42 beginning January 20 at 9:30 a.m. The cleverly titled program A PEDI PARTY is described by the club as “A shaker of sassy, satirical, sweet and silly songs shaken up with a conversational twist and topped with the occasional guest”, and with Pedi as the hostess, the crowds can expect the party-sounding description to not even begin to cover the wacky adventures that await audiences.
Well known as host of the Sirius XM show “On Broadway” and for her stage roles in The Great White Way, Off-Broadway, in regional theaters and in nightclubs and cabarets everywhere. An actress with film and television under her belt as well, Ms. Pedi has achieved great popularity on the internet, where her YouTube videos have earned her many views and followers, especially in a series of humorous videos based on a famous diva who has a ‘Z’ in its name.
With her musical director Matthew Martin Ward on piano, Christine Pedi’s presence at The Green Room 42 promises one night a month when all bets are off, so Green Room 42 crowds should brace themselves for a wild, light-filled ride. Broadway music, loud comedy, and polite (perhaps naughty) conversation with some of Ms. Pedi’s dearest friends from the local show business scene. A PEDI PARTY will be broadcast live to benefit members of the public at Green Room 43 in New York who prefer to stay, Pedi fans living outside of Manhattan, and New Yorkers who don’t want to hang out late, but don’t. you don’t mind watching the show from the comfort of their bed and laptop. Tickets for A PEDI PARTY start at $19. and can be obtained HERE. Learn more about Christine Pedi below.
CHRISTINE PEDI the “Lady of 1000 Voices” first discovered her talent for several personalities (Merman, Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters, etc.) through her long association with the legendary off-Broadway revue Forbidden Broadway having performed in companies around the world including London’s West End, Japan, Los Angeles, New York, Singapore and Detroit. She received a Drama Desk nomination for her work in hollywood banned (Liza, Rosie Perez, Judi Dench, Sharon Stone, etc.) as well as an LA Ovation & NAACP Award. She also brought her collection of Divas to long-running off B’ways Newsical the Musical and recently starred in and co-produced Spamilton: an American parody written by Forbidden Broadwaythe creator of Gerard Alessandrini. On Broadway, she played Mama Morton (yes just a character…all night long) in the 2nd Chicago (THE OLDEST AMERICAN musical).
His Broadway debut was in little me with Martin Short & Faith Prince, directed by Rob Marshall and she played several peculiar callers (again with vocals) opposite Liev Schreiber (well not opposite…she was in the basement of the Longacre theater doing talking into a microphone while he was playing and smoking on stage but it was dynamic) in Eric Bogosian Talk Radio directed by Robert Falls. Speaking of radio, she’s the daily host of SiriusXM Radio’s “On Broadway” channel playing music from stage and screen and interviewing Show-Biz legends (Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. h ch 72). On Saturdays, she and the “aMAHzing” Seth Rudetsky co-host the “Dueling Divas.” Howard Stern fans can hear him do the occasional celebrity voice on his morning show Sirius. Off-Broadway, she played the title role in Miss Abigail”s Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage and A Broadway Diva Christmas.
At the York Theater she performed in Jerry’s Girls and Joann Worley’s highly coveted (yes COVETED!) title in The crazy show as well as the role of Lanie Kazan in my favorite year. She appeared in many incarnations of Train A plays, 24 hour games and many glorious Shaws Project. His cabaret show Great Ladies won the New York Bistro & Nitelife Awards and performed in New York, Los Angeles, London, South Africa and beyond. There’s no business like snow business her holiday show has been a season staple in New York since 2008. She has performed in John McD’s “cutie patootie” Cabaret Corner on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” and has sung at many major venues and boats in New York cruise including Birdland, Feinstein’s/54 Below, The Iridium, The Metropolitan Room, The Algonquin, The Laurie Beechman, Avery Fisher Hall, Don’t Tell Mamas…and the QE2…AND she performed for the President and Mrs. Clinton (playing a singing Hillary!). Fans of “The Sopranos” might recognize her as Mrs. Bobby Baccala (4 scenes, 5 lines…dead. BUT he loved her so much he couldn’t thaw his ziti!).
She has many popular cartoon videos on YouTube, including some posted by drunken fans filming with iPhones on nights she wasn’t “camera ready”, but she forgives them because it’s all about the looooooooove… and musical comedy. shit. Her “Shit Liza Says” videos are very popular.
