1 man dead, three taken to hospital, including children, after quadruple shooting

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Cars covered in bullets, black tarps covering a corpse and a swarm of police. This is the scene dozens of North City neighbors experienced Wednesday afternoon after four people were shot on Kingshighway, just north of Bircher Boulevard.

Just before 6 p.m., St. Louis Metropolitan Police officers responded to a call for gunfire at the 5000 block of Kingshighway. Lt. Col. Ronnie Robinson said he found a black Nissan Rogue in the middle of a one-way street with several shot victims. An adult male died. An adult woman, a 14-year-old girl and a six-month-old baby are hospitalized.

“We know there was a vehicle in front of the victims’ vehicle and the victims in the rear. The vehicle in the front blocked the vehicle with the victims inside, and the vehicle in the rear got stopped behind, and the shooters came out. We think we have several shooters right now, but we don’t know how many,” Robinson explained.

Currently, no suspects are in custody and the police do not know who the suspects are. They also didn’t release the makes or models of the cars that packed the Nissan Rogue. Police said this incident was targeted.

“We do our best to communicate with our citizens to make sure they can trust us and that the information they give us is anonymous,” Robinson said.

We spoke with several neighbors on North Kingshighway who said crimes like this don’t really happen in their neighborhood.

“In this area we have problems, but we really don’t have anything as big as this. It really is a quiet neighborhood. My grandmother sits on the porch until two or three sometimes,” Jasmine said.

Jasmine’s family owns a house in the neighborhood near the shooting site.

“My family has owned this house for over 100 years. It’s just passed from one family member to another,” Jasmine explained.

She said seeing this on her street was really crazy.

The police are asking for all possible information to find the suspects responsible.
